Born in Athens in the mid 70s Konstantinos ‘Apricot’ Verikokos (K.A.V.) started his music and radio experience in 1991 at a local radio station. It was 1992 when he became member of the Legendary Life Fm by hosting ‘flipside’ a daily live radio show .(Life Fm is the radio station which introduced the underground dance-scene to the wider public and made underground dance music popular in Greece) . At the end of the 90s dance music had already become massive in Greece and K.A.V. moved to NRG Fm, which was the underground part of Kiss Fm in Greece. Apart from his active involvement in the radio industry, K.A.V has been a regular columnist in dance magazines such as Lemon , Freeze and Music Life writing reviews for new releases and covering festivals. During this time, he participated as guest Dj in several parties and clubs and took over the administration of club ‘Berlin’, situated in the historical centre of Athens. The early 00s is the period that the government clumped down on independent radio stations ,so K.A.V makes his comeback in 2008 at Free Fm Radio where he once more meets up with his colleagues from Life Fm and starts his musical journey all over again. Now ‘Flipside’ is on air again , always covering the underground side of dance music industry. |
